Winooski, Vermont

Winooski is the Abenaki word for "wild onions" that grew plentiful along the river banks in this area. It was here that Ira Allen built grain and lumber mills in the late 1700’s because of the abundant and beautiful waterfalls. Located on the shores of Lake Champlain, northeast of Vermont's largest city of Burlington, Winooski is home to many merchants and manufacturers.
